Throwback Thursday – February 8, 2024

It’s Throwback Thursday on February 8, 2024 and for today’s message we are going back to 1989 once more.

In his book “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, Steven R. Covey, Phd., wrote that Highly Effective People are proactive. This is habit #1. On Friday of last week I shared habit #2 which is to begin with the end in mind. Last week we revisited habit #3 which is Put First Things First.

And today we are looking at habit #4 which is Win Win.

In the book, Dr. Covey states “Two people can see the same thing, disagree, and yet both be right. It’s not logical; it’s psychological.”

And in our roles as real estate licensees we must, meaning we are required by the state to protect the public from unscrupulous real estate practices. We have to do the right thing, seek win-win.

This isn’t easy to do unless we exercise that muscle of looking out for others and doing the right thing.

There are people in our community that need our assistance in protecting them from people who will take advantage of them and our duty is to seek out those people

So today, Ask yourself: “who can I seek a win-win situation with? Who needs my assistance? Who is it that might be in a situation where I can be of service to them regardless of the opportunity to earn a fee for service.

Can I add that person to my Sphere of Influence so that over time they can refer business to me because I served them in their time of need?

Does that create a Win Win?

I believe it does.

So today, I challenge you today to look at your  Sphere of Influence and find the opportunities to create a WIN-WIN for you and a client or prospect.

If I can be of assistance to you in doing this, just reach out to me and I’ll be happy to assist you.

If you haven’t done so yet, please click on the link below and pick a day and time for us to visit one on one so that I can assist you in reaching your goals for 2024

Focus Friday March 1, 2024

Focus Friday March 1, 2024

Hey, welcome to Friday. It is Focus Friday, March 1 2024. And I want you to remember first off what focus stands for its follow one course until successful.

And this morning as I was coming back from my workout, I was listening to Steven Pressfield and the audio version of the book, The War of Art. In it, he reminded me of a philosophy that I taught many years ago called you incorporated.

But the way that he put it was that as a writer, when he went to Hollywood, he was impressed by other writers who would create basically a parent corporation and then they would hire themselves as their own employee.

And that did a couple of things for them. One it created an LLC to where they could have an employee and save money on taxes.

And you as a realtor can do that today, legally through the Texas Real Estate Commission, and that’s a separate topic and you can get with me on that later.

But the second thing that it did was it allowed the writer to say, “Hey, I am the boss, I’m the CEO of my LLC, of my corporation, and then I’m hiring myself as my own employee.”

And then that sets up the employee employer relationship, and you’ve got to think about this. You say, “Hey, would I hire myself as my own employee?”

And if I did, if I went to work every morning, and I put my hat on as the employee and I said, I’ve got to do the stuff that I would demand other people do. Would you hire yourself?

Yeah, I ask that question pretty much every day, and there are days that I’d fire myself, quite frankly, because I’m too lazy to do what I want to do.

But most days, I’m going to do what’s required of me to build the business that I want to build. I’m going to make the phone calls. I’m gonna make the text messages, do the emails, do the follow up calls, show up here to the office, and that’s the number one thing that I got to do is I’ve got to show up here so that I can do the work throughout the day.

Now, I want you to think about that today.

Would you hire yourself and then as an employee, as You Incorporated?

Would you hold yourself accountable to doing the things that you should be doing to build the business that you said you want to build the life that you said you want?

And if the answer is no. Think that over? Are you doing the right thing?

Are you in the right career?

Or do you just need to improve?

Do you need to give yourself an evaluation and say, Hey, as an employee, I can do better in these areas.

And if there are areas that we can help you out, please let me know.

We’re here to help you reach the goals that you want to reach.

So please, today think about that you incorporate you as the CEO of your corporation, you as the employee of the corporation, and how can you separate the two roles to make sure that the employee is doing what’s necessary for the business to be successful.

And if I can help you reach out to me 915-588-1850 is the number call me on. You can textt me on that.

Shoot me an email Patrick.Tuttle@Coldwellbanker.com and I’ll be glad to help you out any way that you can.

And if you’re interested in that LLC thing so you can save taxes on the income that you earn as a realtor. Let me know about that too.

Thanks for watching. God bless you and make it a great day. Bye bye

Motivation Monday February 26, 2024

Hey good Monday afternoon It is February the 26th. It is Motivation Monday and today’s message has three parts to it. I’m gonna keep it as short as possible. So you’ll watch it all the way through.

So, on to the three parts of this. Number one, I’m telling you about what’s going on here at the office. Number two, what are we doing to keep in contact with our sphere of influence? And the third thing is a little bit of motivation and inspiration for your Monday to keep you on track for your goals.

So let’s start off with the office. What are we doing?

Well, our staff is helping us out in screening some candidates they’re checking 16 candidates for our receptionist position, checking to see if they’ve got the level of fluency in the Spanish language.

We require everybody to have English and I can do that part.

But when it comes to Spanish, not so much, but we’re trying to find somebody great to greet you and our clients and prospects as they come here to the office and our staff is helping out on that specifically, Whitney, and Ashley and Jessica Harrelson are helping out and you give them a big hand a big thank you for doing that. Second thing.

What are we doing here at the office this week? Well, Transformation Tuesday is  happening here, and that is tomorrow. We are focusing on contracts and contract forms. It starts at 10am tomorrow morning in person here and on Zoom.

And we’re going to be talking about those contracts. If you’ve got something in particular you want to discuss, please let me know ahead of time, so I can work it into the presentation for tomorrow.

And then we’re also working in our sphere of influence. We’ve got an automated email going out from Moxie, as well as preparing our Service for Life newsletter that I hope to get delivered on Friday, no later than Saturday for those folks that are getting the snail mail copies of that.

Now, let’s go on to our motivation for today. Realize that this is the last week of February and we do get an extra day this year. It’s leap week, that’s leap day on Thursday, February the 29th. And as I go to the end of something, I always want to look back and say hey, did I accomplish what I set out to accomplish?

Did I finish what I was supposed to do? Did I reach the goals that I have set for myself and if I look at February I’d say no, I didn’t get there. You know it just to be transparent about it. I didn’t hit the goals that I wanted to hit.

And I’m either going to have to readjust my goals and go down on them. Or I’m going to have to add the things that I was supposed to do here in the month of February. I’m going to have to add those into March through December so that I can get my annual goals.

Really what it comes down to me is if those goals that I set back in December and then reaffirmed in January, if they’re really important to me, I’m going to have to reaffirm and I’m gonna have to commit to the commitment to making sure that those goals are going to be met, that I’m taking the action necessary to make that happen.

And that’s what I’m doing. I’m taking my goals and I’m recommitting to those and I’m adding them to March through December so that I can still reach my annual goal here for 2024. And I challenge you to do the same thing.

You set goals because they’re important to you. I set goals because they’re important to me. They’re important to me because it helps me grow to a level at which I am not at yet and I want to get better and better with that constant improvement.

I wouldn’t be able to do that each and every year so that I get better. You know, kind of like that proverbial fine wine that we’re you get better with age.

So today, Monday, February 26 2024. I’m asking you to go along with me to commit to the commitment of reaching your goals.

Do the things that you said you were going to do? Get your accountability partner, that’s your buddy, who’s your buddy, who’s your pal who’s going to help you get your goals, reach them and who are you going to help as well?

And if I can assist you in any way please let me know. You can reach me at 915-588-1850. Shoot me an email at Patrick.Tuttle@Coldwellbanker.com or you can come by the office and see me. Thanks for watching. God bless you and make it a great day. Bye bye

Throwback Thursday February 22, 2024

Hey, welcome to Thursday, February the 22nd 2023. No, it’s 2024. So we’re not throwing back to last year.

It is February 22 2024. And in today’s Throwback Thursday message, we’re going back to 1989 to the book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People in today’s lesson is Habit number five, that’s right, number five, and we’re talking about “seek first to understand and then to be understood.”

Now, there’s a story about this where a husband comes home from work, it could be a wife so ladies don’t get mad at me. But the story that was told to me was about a husband comes home from work. And he walks in the door and he says Hi honey, I’m home. What’s for supper?

And the wife after having a hard day of taking care of the kids and cleaning house and the pets and trying to get things done is just in a really ungrateful mood and she’s like, I’m done.

All you want is to come home and find out what’s for supper. You don’t even have time to ask me how my day was.

I’m done. I want a divorce. shocked the husband’s now in reactive mode. And he’s trying to figure out what he could have done better. Well, actually, the wife could have done something better too.

And again, you can flip the roles.

Don’t worry about that.

The lesson is that instead of just reacting, if the wife had stopped and considered his question real quick and then responded instead of reacting; if she would have responded.

“Hey, that’s an interesting question. Why do you ask?”

He could have explained:

Honey, I got a promotion at work today and I’d like to take you and the kids out to celebrate.

Now the reaction, the response would have been much better and they wouldn’t have been headed to divorce court.

So today this week, see how you can practice Habit number five, which is seek first to understand what clarifying questions can you ask.

One of my favorites is hey, that’s an interesting question. Why do you want to know?

That works very well. For me.

Another one that works very well is “Tell Me More”.

That comes from the Ninja Selling book. And you can use either one of those to gather more information.

And you’ll be able to understand why people are asking the questions that they’re asking. And then you won’t just be in a reactive mode, but you’ll be in a responsive mode, and you’ll be able to respond better to the initial question.

So that’s Throwback Thursday for today, February 22 2024. And if I can be of service to you in any way, please give me a call 915-588-1850. That works for text as well.

And for now. Thanks for watching, God bless you and make it a great day. Bye bye

Transformation Tuesday February 20, 2024

Motivation Monday – February 19, 2024

Hey, it’s Monday February the 19th. And it is time for Motivation Monday and today’s message has three parts to it.

First off, I’m going to tell you what’s going on here at homemaker heritage and legacy management services this week.

Second, I’ll tell you the things I’m doing to keep in touch with my sphere of influence this week.

And then third, I’m going to give you a little bit of an inspirational message to keep you on track today and for the rest of this week. So let’s go with our updates.

Today is Motivation Monday, it is the day to put your motives into action. And if you’ve ever done any etymology work, that’s the study of words. If you’ve ever done any of that you’ll realize that motivation is made up of two words, motives and action. It is your motive in action.

Why are you doing what you’re doing?

And why do you want to get where you want to go?

Tie all those things together.

So I’ll have you a little message on that in just couple of minutes.

Tomorrow, we’ve got transformation Tuesday and Bob Field will be our guest speaker. He is the former president of Sierra Title here locally and also down in the RGV, the Rio Grande Valley and he will be giving us what I consider to be the best class on land surveys and some of the history about land surveys.

On Wednesday, we’ve got legal two, as well as the grand opening of Classic Heritage Homes model which is at 12627 Cody Kyle court.

Now the legal two will be here at the office from 12 to four and then our grand opening will be at one to six to seven Cody, California over on the east side. And that will be from noon to 2pm. We’ll have food fun and prizes.

On Thursday. I’ll have your Throwback Thursday message on that and then we will have fun Friday with activities here at the office. And we’re considering where to have happy hour. Will that be here at the office or elsewhere? I’ll let you know by Friday.

Now what am I doing to keep in contact with my sphere of influence? Well, this is our third full week in February. So we’re sending out our evidence of success postcards to my sphere of influence. I’ll also be shooting my market update video tomorrow afternoon.

Now, those of you who are paying attention to what I say versus what I do, you’ll realize that that was supposed to happen last week, but our schedules just didn’t work out.

So I’m gonna do it tomorrow. Get it out by Thursday of this week. We’re not perfect, but we keep working towards that so that we can get the message out to the sphere of influence.

And then finally, today’s motivational message has one topic and that is about earnings. And in my case my earning and my earnings. I’m not just referring to monetary rewards, I’m also referring to earning the food I eat, the vehicle I drive, the friends I have etcetera.

Now I have what I have through the grace of God.

And the fact that I worked towards those things.

Now by grace, He’s given me everything that I have. But if I don’t take action, I’m not going to get the things that I want in my life.

So I’ve got to go out and I’ve got to earn the things that I want.

Most of you know that I grew up on a small farm and ranch in East Texas and as far back as I can remember we had cows, we had chickens, we had horses, we had a garden, and we always had something to do with regard to the garden, the animals or whatever it was.

In the spring, summer, autumn we had a garden where we planted crops such as corn, potatoes, beans, cucumbers, okra, tomatoes, etc.

And each morning, my siblings and I had a routine of we’d have to go out and feed the cows, we’d have to feed the chickens or feed the horses.

And when we had a garden we had to go read the garden until the soil and do things like that.

Before we got breakfast. Before we went to school.

And that was what created the discipline that I work on today. It was the work ethic that my dad put into us because he demanded that we go do those things before breakfast.

This morning, I was considering our United States military and the basic training that they go through and I looked at the schedule of what basic training is. They start at 430 in the morning where they wake up and then by five and they get out and they do their physical training, or PT and they do that from five to six according to their website on the army.com.

And then they’ve got to shower and get cleaned up and then they have breakfast.

So, they’ve earned their breakfast by the time they get there.

Like getting up early by doing the workout and then getting ready for the day, having breakfast and then going into training. And I look at that and I go, you know that’s the same thing we did on the farm.

We had to get up and feed the cows ready to go feed the horses, the chickens, we had the till the garden, and then we can have breakfast and then we’d go to school.

It was the same thing.

Now maybe that was because dad was in the army, I don’t know.

But he had the discipline to get us there. And then by the late afternoon he could do the other things that he wanted to do. And today I’m looking at my schedule and what I’m doing.

I’ve got a lot of calls to make.

I want to take the weekend off to do the things I want to do around the house.

Will it be prepare my little garden for the spring planting season? Whether it’s trimming the trees or whatever it is I want to be able to take that weekend off.

And as I look toward Saturday, I ask myself, am I going to earn that? Am I going to do the things that I’m supposed to do this week so that I can earn that weekend off?

Or am I doing the things that I was supposed to do to earn that breakfast or earn that launch or earn that nice supper or earn the fact that I get to live in a home where I’ve got controlled temperature and sleep in our bed?

Am I doing things that I need to do to earn that on a daily basis?

I’m going to work towards that because I don’t want to lose those things.

I want to continue to earn those things.

It’s not a gift that I can guarantee myself forever.

I’ve got to continually earn them and that’s part of the mystery of life that we have to continue doing those things.

And today I want you to reach inside yourself and to ask yourself that question, “am I earning what I have? Am I working towards keeping what I have or improving my place in life? Am I getting where I want to be because I did the work that I was supposed to do?”

Did I make the calls that I was supposed to make? The follow up calls; the prospecting; the reach out to keep in touch things? All of those things with your sphere of influence with your leads that you’ve got in your Moxi database.

Am I doing the daily success habits to get me to where I want to go?

If I’m not and I’m not earning it, I’m going to lose what I have because as our Pastor talked about yesterday, in the book of Matthew chapter 25, he gave us the parable of the talents and the the lazy servant that didn’t do anything with his talent.

What he had was taken away from him and given to the one who doubled the five talents or doubled the two talents each to his own accord.

So what are you doing this week?

What am I doing this week to continually earn that because it’s a daily ritual, it’s a daily task. We’ve got to earn those things and make sure that we’re doing what’s necessary to not only keep what we have, but to improve on where we’re going.

Put that in your thoughts today.

Do your best and if I can be of service to you and let me know.

In the body of that email below. There’s a link you can get on my calendar and I’ll be happy to talk to you about the five F’s and how you’re working towards those and how I’m working towards those.

That’s faith, family, friends, financial and fitness. Those are the five “fs” that we’ve got. Put them in whatever order you want to, and let’s go get you and me our goals to be the best person that we can be.

Thanks for watching. God bless you and make it a great day.

Bye bye

Motivation Monday February 5, 2024

It’s Monday February 5, 2024 and today’s message has three parts to it.

First, I’m going to update you on the upcoming events for this week and a look into next week at Coldwell Banker Heritage and Legacy Management Services.

Second, I’ll tell you the things I am doing to keep in touch with my sphere of influence to build business.

Third, I’ll give you an inspirational message to keep you on track today and the rest of this week.

So, here we go on the updates:

  5. And now, looking into next week,
    1. We will have Transformation Tuesday and Call night on Tuesday Februray 13.
    2. We will have Workshop Wednesday on the 14th with a Valentine’s Day Theme.
    3. Career night is on Thursday February 15 here at the west office.
  6. Now, what am I doing to keep in touch with my Sphere of Influence?
    1. This is our first full week in February so we are working on gathering data for our Market Update Video. If time allows we will shoot the video on Wednesday afternoon so that it can be posted online by Friday.
    2. We are also preparing our mail out to probate attorneys to gain probate business.
  7. Finally, today’s motivational message comes from The Message version of the Bible.

The verses I am referring to is Habakkuk 2:1-3 which read as follows: What’s God going to say to my questions? I’m braced for the worst.
I’ll climb to the lookout tower and scan the horizon. I’ll wait to see what God says,
how he’ll answer my complaint.

And then God answered: “Write this.
Write what you see.
Write it out in big block letters
so that it can be read on the run.
This vision-message is a witness
pointing to what’s coming.
It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait!
And it doesn’t lie.
If it seems slow in coming, wait.
It’s on its way. It will come right on time.

Yesterday Raja and I watched a documentary featuring Doc Rivers, Head Coach of the LA Clippers and formerly the head coach of the Boston Celtics.

In the documentary Doc Rivers explained how he felt unworthy of his position as head coach of the Celtics because he had not led the team to a NBA Championship. He chose a blank spot on the wall of the practice facility and shined a light on it for all of his players to see. He explained to his team that the spot on the wall was where the 17th NBA championship banner would be displayed after they won in 2008. And from that point on, the team worked toward the goal of winning, and ultimately they won the 2008 NBA Championship.

Now, how does this relate to the verse from Habakkuk?

It’s the same premise. Even though Doc Rivers didn’t write it on the wall, he painted a picture in the minds of his players and staff of what it would look like to have the 2008 championship banner hanging on the wall. And I am asking you today, what is your goal?

What goal do you have hanging on the wall in big block letters so big that a runner can read it on the run?

I want to know what is driving you for 2024.

And in the body of the email below you’ll find a link to my calendar. I’d love to sit down with you, either in person or on Zoom to review your goals for 2024 in the five Fs. Faith, Family, Fitness, Finance, and Friends. Please click on the link and pick a day and time for us to visit.

Focus Friday February 2, 2024

It’s FOCUS FRIDAY on Groundhog Day 2024

It’s FOCUS FRIDAY on Groundhog Day 2024 and today’s message has one part to it.

FOCUS!

Follow One Course Until Successful

Way back in 1993 Bill Murray portrayed TV Weatherman Phil Connors as he was stuck in a time loop that began every day at 6AM on February 2, Groundhog Day.

Over time he falls in love with his producer, Rita and begins a journey of working on himself to impress Rita and have her fall in love with him as well.

It’s a great movie and a great metaphor for life. And in case you haven’t seen it, here’s a link so you can rent and watch it on Youtube.

Now what’s the metaphor and how does it relate to Focus Friday you ask?

Well, thanks for asking.

The director of the movie, and fellow Ghostbuster Harold Ramis originally said he thought Murray’s character had been stuck in Punxsutawney for 10 years.

However, in 2009 he admitted the estimate was far too short. He said: “It takes at least 10 years to get good at anything, and allotting for the down time and misguided years he spent, it had to be more like 30 or 40 years.”

That’s right, Phil Connor was stuck in a time loop for over thirty years, all to impress and convince Rita to fall in love with him on one day that was repeated over, and over, and over again.

In his book The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell repeatedly refers to the “10 000-hour rule,” asserting that the key to achieving true expertise in any skill is simply a matter of practicing, albeit in the correct way, for at least 10,000 hours.

And depending on where you are in your career, you may be well past the 10,000 hour mark and on your way to the thirty plus years.

But if not, you can add at least one hour to your 10,000 today by focusing on the key activities you need to be focusing on to serve more individuals and families in the residential real estate space.

You can carve out your time to do your Ninja 9, Daily Success Habits, or whatever program you are following and do the work.

And remember that the longer you put this off, the longer it will take you to reach mastery, in anything.

Lao Tzu said the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Step into your future today by taking action and focusing on your key activities.

Do the work.

Work the plan.

And if I can assist you in anything, reach out to me using the link to my calendar below.

Thanks for watching, God Bless You, and Make it a Great Day!

Throwback Thursday February 1, 2024

It’s Throwback Thursday on February 1, 2024!

It’s Throwback Thursday on February 1, 2024 and for today’s message we are going back to 1989 once more.

In his book “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, Steven R. Covey, Phd., wrote that Highly Effective People are proactive. This is habit #1. On Friday of last week I shared habit #2 which is to begin with the end in mind.

Today I am sharing habit #3 which is Put First Things First.

In the book, Dr. Covey gives an example of a large glass jar and he successively fills it with big rocks, pebbles, sand, and finally water. Here’s a link to a video that was recorded in the late 1980s or early 1990s where Dr. Covey demonstrates the exercise in a workshop.

https://youtu.be/zV3gMTOEWt8

Now, how does this relate to us today?

Well, we have to ask ourselves, are we putting first things first? Are we putting the big rocks in first or are we working the small stuff because it is easier and it keeps us busy?

Ask yourself: “Am I putting the big rocks in first?”

Big rocks can come in many forms.

For me, the biggest rock is faith. Then it’s family, fitness (which I need to work on more), finances, and then friends.

What about you? What are your big rocks? What do you need to put in your container of time each day? Is it self development?

Developing your Sphere of Influence?

Lead Generation?

Hand written cards, FORD calls?

Ask yourself: Am I putting the big rocks first in my daily schedule?

The honest answer to this question will help you in both your personal and professional life just like it will help me.

So today, I challenge you today to look at your daily activities and find the big rocks you need to prioritize and put those in first.
